1 GCVS Team Infrared source CRL 2688, the star of the spectral type F5Ia, associated with a bipolar reflection nebula (the so-called Egg nebula). The northern component of the nebula is 4" to the north from the source. Since 1920 to 1958 the integrated light of this component increased from 15.2m to 13.4b B and after that does not vary [E.W.Gottlieb, W.Liller, ApJ 207, L 135, 1976.]. Light of the faint (16.2m B) southern component (5" to the south from the source) varies by 0.6m B [O.G.Franz, BAAS 12, 445, 1980.]. The radiation of the nebula is strongly polarized (46%, theta = 106deg in V system). There are C3 absorption features as well as Na, C2, and [S II] emission in the spectrum. Probably the object is a precursor of a planetary nebula [M.Cohen, L.V.Kuhi, PASP 92, 736, 1980.].
