Hot RCB. |

VB A (B 15m pg, 16", 73deg). Very hot hydrogen deficient helium carbon star. By the character of light variation and the spectrum the star is unique. The light curve resembling those of RCB type stars is superimposed by conspicuons irregular and semiregular variations with the mean cycle about 200d [D.Hoffleit, AJ 63, 78, 1958., F.M.Bateson, A.W.Dodson, NZAS Publ N10(C 82), 1, 1982.]. The star is surrounded by a nebula the radius of which equals 1". A fainter nebulous envelope is observed up to 7" from the star. Large infrared excess. Spectrum description [G.H.Herbig, ApJ 127, N2, 312, 1958., O.Dahari, D.E.Osterbrock, ApJ 277, 648, 1984.]. Probably the star is intermediate between the RCB variables And planetary nebula Wolf-Rayet central stars. |
