1 Otero, Sebastian Alberto The star was named after a wrong report in the original reference that corresponded to the nearby RVB star V1833 Sgr. Identification is ambiguous because there are at least 2 (and possibily 3) objects at Plaut 3-239 position. The candidate was chosen due to its 2MASS red colors (J-K 1.42) but most of the other astrometric catalogues give a different position: 18 15 47.94 -31 06 11.4 (J2000.0) for USNO-B1.0 0588-0682042 = GSC2.3 S9SM003609 = UCAC3 118-392982 (not in 2MASS). Also another nearby star (2MASS J18154817-3106226 = USNO-B1.0 0588-0682074 = GSC2.3 S9SM057527, not in UCAC3) at 18 15 48.18 -31 06 22.7 (J2000.0, 2MASS) with J-K 0.78. Magnitude for the candidate(s) between 14 and 17 (variations probably due to uncertain identifications and light contamination from the companions). It must be stressed that the identification is for the star named as Plaut 3-239 in Plaut's charts but its variability has not been proven since the elements given in (1971A&AS....4...75P) correspond to V1833 Sgr.
