J-K= 0.92.
The light curve shape is more typical of an RVA variable most of the time. The early spectral type at maximum and short period are consistent with that. Minima interchange happens a lot but that is also common in other RV-type stars like U Mon.
In 1954 Bidelman and Ratcliffe already published: "self-reversal of the hydrogen emission lines has been previously found in two high-velocity [SRD] stars, AG Aur and WY And and also in the peculiar cepheid W Vir. The structure of the H-delta line in W Vir at some phases is quite similar to that found in T Cen at H-alpha. Since the light curve of T Cen shows marked variations in the depth of minimum, and since its mean visual range is quite small, about 2.1 mag., it seems that this variable is in several respects more similar to other types of variable stars than to typical Mira-type stars of longer period" |
